Go Go's - Beauty and the Beat
Recorded in New York City and released on July 8, 1981, the Go Go’s first album, Beauty and the Beat includes the hit singles, Our Lips are Sealed and We Got the Beat. This album sold over 2 million copies and is considered one of the greatest debut albums of all time. It’s been called, “… one of the cornerstone albums of new wave.” The album cover concept was by Belinda Carlisle and photography by George Du Bose.
Fun fact: The bath towels used on the cover were purchased at Macy’s and returned later the same day.
